2008 UCAL ROLON CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS ANNOUNCED  

UCAL Rolon NRC for Bikes

National champions - overall standings - In the experts category Harry Sylvester and K. Rajini of Team TVS Racing took the titles in the Group D 4 stroke 165 cc and Group B 4 stroke 165 cc classes respectively, while K.Vinoth of Team ANYA captured the title in Group B 4 stroke 250 cc class.In theIntermediate category Sudhakar Kesavan of Team ANYA and P. Deva Kumar emerged winners in  Group D 4stroke 165cc and Group c 2 stroke 165 cc classes respectively. And in the Novice category it was S.Vivek Pillai and Sarath Kumar who clinched the national titles in Group D 2 stroke 165 cc and Group D 4 stroke 130 cc classes. K.Umesh Babu won the national title in the mopeds class.  The winners in the Group A category were Sarosh Limathwala and Dr.Ravi Kesana in the 600 cc and 1000 cc classes respectively.

Race report and results - Round 5

 

Dazzling show by quartet from Team ANYA

Triple glory for Sriskandarajah,

Double delight for Sudhakar, Vinoth, Alok,

Venkatramana, Deva, and Sarath

 

Chennai. Team ANYA led by their dashing quartet of Sriskandarajah, T.K.Vishwanath, Sudhakar Kesavan and K.Vinoth went on a winning spree as they annexed 11 podium finishes � 8 first places, 1 second place and 2 third places -on the concluding day of the two wheeler racing season. The final day of the season commenced in ideal weather conditions on a bright and sunny day with pleasant winds blowing across the track.  As the speed machines roared into action for the last time this season  at the Madras Motor Race Track in Irungattukottai  for the Ucal Rolon National Racing Championship 2008, around 80 riders from various parts of the country were seen in action                                                in three different classes � Experts, Intermediate and Novices.  Stealing the thunder was the speed display by the riders on the imported bikes in the 600 and 1000 cc Group A category.

 

Experts  

Group D 4 Stroke 165 cc:  Pole leader and veteran racer Sriskandarajah of   Team ANYA Racing was full cry as he roared away to his first win of the day in Race 1.  K. Rajani of Team TVS finished second while Sriskandarajah�s teammate T.K.Vishwanath took the third place.  It was a repeat show from the seasoned Sriskandarajah as he wrapped yet another win in Race 2. Harry Sylvester and P.Karthik finished second and third respectively.

Group B 4 stroke 165 cc

Pole leader Sriskandarajah fought off a stiff challenge from Harry Sylvester of Team TVS racing to record a very close win in Race 1. Finishing in third place was Harry�s team mate K. Rajani.  T.K. Vishwanath took the honors inRace 2 with second place going to Sriskandarajah while Harry Sylvester settled for a third place finish. 

Group B 4 stroke 260 cc

A brilliant effort from yet another rider - from Team ANYA � K.Vinoth saw another win being added to the team�s basket.  While Vinoth�s teammate Sriskandarajah finished third it was R. Deepak who took the second place. Vinoth came up with a repeat performance in Race 2 to end the season with a double.  Deepak once again finished second while P.Rajani had to be content with third place.

 

Intermediate

Group D 4 Stroke 165 cc: After his maiden win in Round 4, pole leader Sudhakar Kesavan of Team ANYA registered his first podium  win of the day by clinching the top spot in Race 1.   Finishing 2nd and third were V. Sameer and  Shyam Shankar. Race 2 saw yet another splendid effort from Sudhakar Kesavan and this win helped him seal the championship in style.  Finishing in second and third places once again were V.Sameer and Shyam Shankar.

Group C 2 stroke 165 cc:  A tremendous effort from P. Deva Kumar saw him taking the honors in both the races. Krishna Prasad and A. Satish Kumar finished in second and third places respectively in Race 1.  Krishna Kumar and S.Kumar finished in 2nd and 3rd places In Race 2.

 

Novice  

In the Group A class it was K.Venkataramana and Alok Shashidhar who treated the viewers with a tremendous display of absolute speed on their gleaming imported machines. Both the races saw Venkataramana and Alok taking the chequered flags in the 600 cc and 1000 cc classes respectively.

 

Group D 4 stroke 130 cc  It was a grand double for Sarath Kumar as he clinched comfortable wins in both races.  Finishing second and third in both races were Alok Shashidhar and K. Jagan respectively.

 

Group D 2 stroke 165 cc : 

S. Vinoth continued his good run to take the chequered flag in Race 1.  Finishing second and third in Race 1 were Vivek Pillai and S. Murali respectively.  In Race 2 it was S. Vivek Pilai who emerged winner with S.Vinoth and T. Sumit Lucas finishing in second and third places respectively.

 

Mopeds

Championship winner K. Umesh Babu could not complete Race 1 but was in full cry in Race 2 as he ended the season with another emphatic win.  A.Vinoth took the chequered flag in Race 1.

 

The overall championship points will be announced later in the day at the championship prize distribution function.

Former national champion T.K. Vishwanath made a spectacular comeback to road racing after a long gap. He marked his return with 3 wins, one second place  and one third place finish.  Bike races in Chennai have always drawn huge crowds over the years and today was no exception.  As the speed machines roared into action at theMadras Motor Race Track in Irungattukottai for the third round of the Ucal Rolon National Racing Championship 2008, around 120 riders from various parts of the country were seen in action.  The day saw a combination of spectacular racing and speed as machines vied against each other in three different classes � Experts, Intermediate and Novices.

 

Experts

 

Group D 4 Stroke 165 cc:  Pole leader and former national champion T.K.Vishwanath of Team ANYA Racing started his comeback trail in style by annexing his first win of the day in Race 1.   Off to a good start, Vishwanath held on the lead comfortably till the end. Finishing second and third were the duo from Team TVS Racing - K.Rajini and Emmanuel Jebaraj.  Race 2 saw T.K.Vishwanath registering his second win of the day comfortably.  Harry Sylvester of Team TVS Racing and teammate Emmanuel Jebaraj finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

 

 

Group B 4 stroke 165 cc:  K.Rajini of Team TVS was in his winning mode as he went on to register his first win of the day.  Veteran racer Sriskandarajah of Team ANYA finished second.  R.Deepak finished third. Race 2 once again saw T.K.Vishwanath in full cry as he went to record his third win of the day.  The Team TVS Racing duo of K.Rajini and Harry Sylvester finished 2nd and 3rd.

 

Group B 4 stroke 260 cc: Race 1 saw a three way fascinating tussle between T.K.Vishwanath, K.Vinoth - both from Team ANYA - and R Deepak. Ultimately in a thrilling finish Vinoth prevailed to take the chequered flag followed by Vishwanath and Deepak.  Race 2 witnessed a pulsating duel between Vinoth and Deepak with Vinoth ultimately finishing ahead by a fraction. T.K.Vishwanath came in 3rd.

Intermediate

Group C 2 stroke 165 cc:  Pole leader P. Deva Kumar was off to a rousing start in Race 1. Building up a huge lead Deva took the chequered flag by a huge margin. S.Kumar finished second and Umesh Babu came in third. Race 2 saw another commanding performance from Deva Kumar as he took the chequered flag with a huge margin. S.Krishna Prasad finished second while Umesh Babu finished third.

 

Group D 4 Stroke 165 cc: Pole leader V.Sameer coastied to a comfortable win in Race 1. Finishing 2nd and third were Emmanuel Clarke and Sudhakar Kesavan.  In Race 2 it was Shyam Shankar who took the chequered flag ahead of Emmanuel Clarke. Sudhakar Kesavan finished third.

 

Novice

Group A

600 cc -  Race 1 saw Praveen Keerthi continuing his dominating run in this class as he came up triumphs once again. Gopinadhan and Mohammed finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Race 2 saw a repeat result for the first two places. Sarosh finished third.

 

1000 cc -   It was a nail biting duel for the top slot all the way between Alok Sashidhar and Vikram .  However, it was Alok taking the chequered flag just a whisker ahead.   K.V.Balaji finished third.  Race 2  results was a repeat of Race 1.

 

Group D 4 stroke 130 cc:  Sarath Kumar took the honors winning both the races in this class. Alok Sashidhar finished a close second while S.Ravi came in third.  In Race 2. K. Jagan finished second while once again S.Ravi came in third.

 

Group D 2 stroke 165 cc :  It was a glorious double for S.Vivek Pillai as he clinched comfortable wins in both the races in this category. Starting in pole, Vivek had good starts in both the races helping him clinch both wins effortlessly.  Finishing second and third in Race 1 were S.Vinoth and R.Karthick respectively.  S.Vinoth and A.Gowri Shankar finished second and third places in Race 2.

 

Mopeds

For K. Umesh Babu it was once again a double treat as he took the honors in both races with comfortable margins.

 

Earlier on Saturday the TVS Race A Bike scheme races were held. D.Dinesk Kumar  won both the races in A group.   The races in B Group saw S. Suman Stanley and Arjun J Pillai sharing the honors.

Bike races have always drawn huge crowds over the years and today was no exception.  As the speed machines got back into action at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore for the second round of the Ucal Rolon National Racing Championship 2008, over 80 riders from various parts of the country were seen in action, the day saw a combination of spectacular racing and stunning upsets as machines vied against each other in three different classes Experts, Intermediate and Novices.

Experts

Group D  4 Stroke 130 to 160 cc : It was an  all TVS affair. Harry Sylvester and K. Rajini fought it out for the top slot with Harry finally squeaking ahead to take the chequered flag.  P. Karthick finished a distant third.   In Race 2 it was P. Karthick who took the honors followed by K.Rajini and Harry Syl places.vester in 2nd and 3r

Group B 4 stroke 130 to 165 cc:  K.Rajini of Team TVS was in usual winning mode as he went on to register his first win of the day.  Showing no sign of fatigue as he had reached Coimbatore only this morning after racing in Malaysia yesterday, the Chennai racer had a comfortable win in Race 1.  Teammate Harry Sylvester  finished second while  P. Rajini finished third.  Race 2 once again saw K. Rajini in full cry as he went to record  yet another win to complete a great double.  Teammates P.Karthick and Harry Sylvester finished 2nd and 3rd.

Group B 4 stroke 260 cc: Race 1 was completely dominated by R Deepak as he blazed away to a very comfortable win.  Starting on pole he moved way ahead to build up a big lead and finish in the top slot.  Finishing 2nd after starting in 4th place was K.Vinodh, while P.Rajini starting 3rd finished in 3rd place.   Race 2 saw a repeat performance by R. Deepak. Once again  K. Vinodh and P.Rajini finished in 2nd and 3rd places.

Intermediate

Group C 2 stroke 130 - 165 cc:  Pole leader Ganesh Prasads failure to capitalize on his pole position saw K. Umesh Babu who started third and P. Deva Kumar who started 4th moving up to lay the field for a very intense three way tussle in Race 1. In the penultimate lap, Ganesh Prasads vehicle failed making it a duel for the top between Umesh and Deva. Ultimately Deva prevailed and squeaked past to take the chequered flag. A.Satish Kumar starting in 7th place finished third.  Race 2 saw another commanding performance from Deva Kumar as he took the chequered flag in a close finish with S. Kumar. K. Umesh Babu finished third.

Group D 4 Stroke 130 to 160 cc: Shayam Shankar had no problems in coasting to a comfortable win in Race 1. Finishing 2nd and third were Alok Shashidhar and Sameer Venugopala.  In Race 2 it Sameer Venugopla who came up triumphs.

Novice

Group D 4 stroke 130 cc:  Alok KS and S.Sarath Kumar shared the honors winning one race each in this class. While Alok pipped Sarath to the post after a close encounter in Race 1, it was a comfortable win for Sarath in Race 2. Sarath had earlier finished second in Race 1.

Group D 2 stroke 130 to 165:  It was a glorious double for S.Vivek Pillai as he clinched comfortable wins in both the races in this category. Starting in pole, Vivek had good starts in both the races and was able to build unbeatable leads.  Finishing second and third in both races were A. Gowri Shankar and S.Vinoth respectively.

Mopeds

For K. Umesh Babu it was a great double as he took the honors in both races with comfortable margins.
